Shahid’s Biopic
He is still a newbie when it comes to acting in Bollywood, but Shahid Kapoor is already the subject of a biopic…sort of.
The upcoming Ken Ghosh film, Chance Pe Dance, which stars Kapoor, is apparently a parallel to the young actor’s real life experiences, as he told reporters about some of the movie’s biographical sketches in a recent interview.
“Yes, there are many scenes in the movie that are similar to my life, but it’s not intentional — they have just turned out this way,” Kapoor told the media.
A story of a struggling actor who accepts a role in a reality television series after being rejected in other projects, Chance Pe Dance parallel’s Kapoor’s life in that he, too, had several doors closed in his face before finally earning his break in Ishq Vishq – coincidentally, also a Ken Ghosh film.
After Ishq Vishq, Kapoor most recently starred in the blockbuster film Kaminey. However, his career started more than 10 years ago as a background dancer in Taal. The 28-year-old actor nabbed the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in 2003 for his role in Ishq Vishq.
A UTV Motion Pictures production, Chance Pe Dance is set to hit screens worldwide on January 15th.
Big B and Om Puri
One Bollywood star will help launch the biography of another industry name, as Amitabh Bachchan will be on hand to release Om Puri’s life story in Mumbai on November 23rd, according to Press Trust of India.
Entitled Unlikely Hero: Om Puri, the book was written by the actor’s journalist wife Nandita.
According to Nandita, the decision to have Bachchan (nicknamed “Big B”) release the biography was made about two months ago.
“Bachchan and my husband have high regards for each other,” she told PTI. “When I asked Om whom did he feel should be invited for the release function, he said he could not think anybody else but Amitabh Bachchan. Even Bachchan said it was his honor to do so, when I met him.”
This weekend’s release of Puri’s biography is not without controversy; the Bollywood star was reportedly upset with his wife’s revelation of Om’s relationship with various women. However, Puri later confronted the issue, saying the media was just sensationalizing a non-story.
Karishma endores Aromaz
After spending some time in the shadows, Bollywood star Karishma Kapoor appears to be making a comeback, of sorts, with the announcement that she will act as brand ambassador for Aromaz and its line of beauty products, including popular Indian items such as Tamarind oil control face wash, face & body exfoliating scrub, rejuvenating facial mask, hydrating toner and moisturizing lotion.
While financial terms were not disclosed, media reports state Kapoor will probably shoot a television commercial for Aromaz in her new role as brand ambassador.
Karishma, 35, is the older sister of Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor, and has starred in blockbusters such as Raja Hindustani and Dil to Pagal Hai.
