bollywood_boys_20091120aHollywood and Bollywood took another step in the collaborative direction this week, when it was announced on November 19th  that The Bollywood Boys, a feature film starring David Faustino (Married with Children) and Corin Nemec  (Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, Stargate SG-1) will begin production in early 2010.

According to the film’s producers, Asian-backed investment firm L’Ambassador International Media & Entertainment has agreed to provide financing for the comedy.

Starring Faustino and Nemec in lead roles, The Bollywood Boys is a tale of two struggling filmmakers who head to Bollywood to reclaim their respective careers. The plan? Produce a Hollywood-Bollywood musical starring an “aged, has-been” Bollywood star and funded by Mumbai mob money.

Produced by Al Gomez and Todd Bringewatt under their respective production banners of AGP and F.N.B. Entertainment, The Bollywood Boys will be directed by James L. Bills. Faustino and Nemec are also on board as executive producers.

According to Bills, he was approached by Gomez more than one year ago with the idea of a joint Hollywood-Bollywood project – well before Slumdog Millionaire hit the screens and made it fashionable for Indian and American cinemas to join forces.

In describing the movie without giving away too many details, Bills told Buzzine, in a previous interview, that this movie will combine elements that both American and Indian audiences will find funny in a sort of comedy of errors based upon the misunderstanding of two different cultures. But do not expect to see random, senseless comedy. Instead, Bills said The Bollywood Boys will be the kind of comedy featuring everyday situations…but with a twist.

Filming for The Bollywood Boys will take place at various locations in Hollywood and features American and Indian actors in both leading and supporting roles.

Stay tuned to Buzzine for exclusive updates about this movie, though readers can also keep track of the film’s production on its website.
