Stay true to your soul while also enriching the souls of others, and both you and the universe shall forever be rewarded.
If such a saying is to have any truth or cadence, then it must be embodied in the life work of a human being. The organizers of the Cinequest Film Festival believe they have found that very human being in Deepak Chopra, as the group announced last week it will be awarding the acclaimed author and lecturer with the Life of Maverick Award.
Chopra will reportedly receive the honor at a special ceremony at the California Theater on March 2nd in San Jose during the Cinequest Film Festival, which will run from February 23rd through March 7th.
In a press statement, Cinequest said it is awarding Chopra the Life of Maverick honor for his reliance upon film and television to share his messages with the public. In addition to writing books and making public appearances, Chopra has been establishing himself as a filmmaker.
Recently, Chopra has reportedly co-produced and written the screenplay for The Sadhu, a film about a British soldier finding reincarnation and dealing with past lives.
Additionally, a film based upon a Chopra novel, The 36, is reportedly being produced; the novel is about an American doctor who is one of 36 chosen “pure souls” whose designated responsibility is to maintain a universal balance between good and evil.
Chopra was not available for comment about the honor.
His award ceremony is part of a bigger, two-week film festival showcasing Indian cinema in Northern California. Starting on February 23rd, the cinematic showcase will feature the North American premieres of Road to Sangam and Shemshook.
